PHILADELPHIA--June 24, 1960 [AP] A solemn requiem mass
for John B. Kelly Sr., Civic Leader for builder and one time star athlete, was
offered today in St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church.
Mr.
Kelly’s widow Margaret was escorted by Kelly’s son John Jr. Then came her three
daughters Princess Grace of Monaco, Margaret, and Lizanne and Princess Grace’s
husband, Prince Rainier III.
The
mass was celebrated by the REV. John A. Cartin, rector of St. Bridget’s, The REV.
William Herrity, and assistant, rector, served as deacon. The sub-deacon was the REV. Joseph Bowler,
who was assistant Chaplin in Monaco when Princess Grace, the former movies
star, was married to Prince Rainier III.
Auxiliary
Bishop Joseph McShea represented John Cardinal O’Hare. They Very Rev. J. Francis Tucker Chaplin in
to the Prince, Spoke the graveside blessing. Mr. Kelly died Monday [June 20,
1960] of Cancer at the Age 70.
